The incidence of Cancer has increased considerably over the last 50 years. Palliative care is the active total care of the patients with life limiting disease. It extends far beyond physical symptom relief; it seeks to integrate Physical, Psychological, Social and Spiritual aspects of care so that patients may come to terms with their impending death as fully and constructively as they can. Palliative care is often said to be 'Low Tech and High Touch'. Compassion and Science are both governing forces in patient care.
